In a world surrounded by bodies of water; from pools to oceans and lakes, equipping children with the ability to swim can be an essential safeguard for water safety. Here at the Swim School at Kids First, we are dedicated to teaching children to swim, and to be safe in and around all water ways.

Our Swim School curriculum blends progressive skills with a patient, non threatening approach, allowing children to feel comfortable and confident in the water. Our instructors are gentle, creative and focused on balancing the progressive steps of swimming with the the individual support each child may need to learn to swim confidently.

While there is no substitute for adult supervision, formal swim lessons are associated with an 88% lower risk of drowning for children ages 1 to 4 years old. By learning to swim at an early age, children gain a sense of confidence and control in the water, reducing the risk of drowning accidents. This life-saving skill teaches children to navigate aquatic environments, fosters a sense of independence and teaches them an appropriate respect for safety in and around all water. But once again, there is no substitute for adult supervision!

NICE TO KNOW INFO

• Swim diapers are required for all children not yet potty trained (swim diapers are available for purchase at our Hospitality Desk).
• Our filters are sensitive; appropriate swim attire is necessary; swim suits, swim shorts, swim shirts, etc.
• Street clothes are not allowed in the pool
• We request that parents/guardians watch lessons from the swim lobby
  
• The swim lobby door (entering into the swim area) may not be propped open

• Rhythmic freestyle
• FUNdamentals backstroke
• All four kicks, back, breast, fly and free
• Endurance and streamlines

Stingray - Group Lesson
Swimmers with solid freestyle and backstroke skills

Pre-Reg: Dolphin Skills

Class Length: 30 minutes

Focus:

• FUNdamental breaststroke
• FUNDamental butterfly
• Work on all four competitive strokes while building endurance
• Five minute continuous circle swim

Barracuda Junior - Group Lesson
Swimmers who have solid basic knowledge of the four competitive strokes and ready to work on turns

Pre-Reg: Stingray Skills

Class Length: 1 hour

Focus:

• Streamline and endurance
• Master circle swimming
• Introduce individual medley
• Refining the four competitive strokes
• Introduce pace clock use
• Correct turns for each stroke

Barracuda Senior - Group Lesson
Swimmers who have learned the four legal competitive strokes and are swim team ready.

Pre-Reg: Barracuda Junior Skills

THE SWIM SCHOOL

STAFF QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING

Our staff loves children and teaching them to love the water. Our leadership team has over twenty years of experience in teaching infants and toddlers. The Swim School staff complete 40 hours of hands-on in water training and 8 hours of land instructions based on a curriculum developed from over 20 years in the learn to swim industry.

Our Infant/Toddler instructors are trained through the United States Swim School Association, the leading organization for professional year round swim instructors. 

We pride ourselves on continuous improvement by learning from International experts at quarterly training sessions.
